The core issue is a critical trust gap: digital-savvy drivers bypass closer, local roadside mechanics, opting instead for slow, expensive travel from city-based contacts, wasting hours and incurring high costs for simple fixes. This disconnection prevents local mechanics from accessing a broader market while forcing motorists into vulnerable situations. In Nigeria’s rural areas, vehicle breakdowns often leave drivers stranded with no platform connecting them to trusted nearby mechanics, resulting in high costs, uncertainty, wasted time, safety hazards from being stranded on dangerous roads, and economic losses for drivers and businesses relying on transport.

Road_mech is a web-based platform connecting vehicle owners with verified mobile mechanics through:

The platform enables drivers to report breakdown location via web app, view verified mechanics nearby, check ratings and reviews, book mechanics instantly, track real-time location, and pay securely. Mechanics register and complete verification, receive job notifications based on location, accept jobs, navigate to breakdown sites, complete repairs, receive digital payment, and build reputation through customer ratings.
Cardano Integration
Road_mech leverages Cardano blockchain to create a verified, location-aware mobile mechanic network that drastically reduces response times and restores confidence in local service providers. The blockchain provides immutable verification records for mechanic credentials and background checks, transparent reputation systems through on-chain ratings that cannot be manipulated, secure payment settlements that eliminate disputes, and permanent service history that builds trust between drivers and mechanics. This digitizes and verifies the highly skilled yet currently informal roadside workforce, giving stranded drivers immediate trusted access while transforming roadside mechanics into a verified professional service network—eliminating the “trust tax” and achieving average response times under 30 minutes with 80% reduction in wait times.
